Toby was working in the oil fields during the day and playing music at night with his band, Easy Money.
Their love story began during a time when life was uncertain. Toby was not yet the superstar the world would later know. He was a hardworking young man trying to build something from nothing. When he and Tricia married on March 24, 1984, she believed in him completely. Toby also embraced Tricia’s daughter, Shelley, adopting her as his own and becoming the father figure she needed.
But their early years together were far from easy. The oil industry collapsed, and financial struggles followed. There were moments when bills were difficult to pay and uncertainty surrounded their future. Some people told Tricia that Toby should give up music and find a more stable career.
