Introduction
Long before Don Henley became a founding member of the Eagles, performed in packed stadiums, and sold millions of records around the world, he was simply a boy growing up in Linden, Texas. At the heart of those early years was his mother, Hughlene Henley—a resilient woman who reportedly spent nearly 25 years fighting cancer. She endured the illness with remarkable strength before passing away in 2003 at the age of 87. For Don, her death meant far more than losing a beloved parent. It also marked the end of an important chapter in the modest East Texas home where his earliest memories had been formed.
After Hughlene’s passing, Don could easily have sold the house. By then, he was one of the most successful musicians of his generation and could afford almost any property he desired.
